DJ TopDonn is a Chicago based DJ with over 15 years of experience.
Originally hailing from Nairobi, Kenya, DJ TopDonn was influenced at an early age by diverse genres of music including Soul, Funk, R&B, HipHop & Afrobeat.
His journey into professional DJing began while attending the University Of Nebraska in Lincoln, where he held down several weekly residencies showcasing R&B and Hip Hop.
DJ TopDonn’s versatility stretches out to his work on the radio where he served as on-air talent for various shows on Lincoln's K.Z.U.M 89.3 FM, most notably "Africa Beat", which was dedicated to introducing that market base to African Music.
Additionally, DJ TopDonn held a 3-year residency on XM Radio's Ngoma 102 channel, where he provided weekly mixes for the "Moto Mix" show that aired nationwide on Friday nights.
After relocating to Chicago, DJ TopDonn team up with Aurelien P.V to develop a monthly event called Afrodisiac that showcases music from all corners of Africa.
Afrodisiac is the longest running Afro-Urban event in entire Midwest and has been featured in 3 print publications, including a feature in Timeout Chicago
Currently, Afrodisiac is held every second Saturday of the Month.
DJ TopDonn’ s involvement in the Afro Urban music scene has seen him grace the stage in various capacities with Industry heavyweights such as Mafikizolo, Koffi Olomide, Fally Ipupa, Serge Beynaud, Timaya, Les Nubians, Angelique Kidjo & Youssou N'dour.
Dj TopDonn’s online presence on the Soundcloud & Vimeo portals showcases his diverse knowledge and understanding of multiple African genres as well bridging some of his early musical influences as detailed on his very popular 90's R&B & Hip Hop Mixes.
